Great Wall Ceramics Ltd, a prominent player in the ceramic building materials industry, participated in the prestigious IAB Build Expo, one of Bangladesh’s top events for architects and industry professionals. The client’s brief was clear—create an exhibition stall that would capture the attention of design-focused architects and related professionals, showcasing the brand’s innovation and sophistication. The goal was to create a premium, minimalist space that would stand out in the competitive exhibition environment.
Design Objective
Our primary aim was to design an exhibition stall that embodies elegance through minimalism. The challenge was to appeal to the design-savvy audience of the expo, creating a space that is visually striking without being overly elaborate. We wanted the architecture of the stall itself to become a talking point among the architects attending the event. The design had to be eye-catching and sophisticated, using a sleek, modern approach to set Great Wall Ceramics apart from other exhibitors.
Design in Concept
To achieve this, we developed a hollow-frame design instead of the typical solid-walled exhibition stall. This concept allowed us to create an open, inviting space that encourages visitors to explore while still providing a sense of structure and enclosure. The design’s focus was on clean lines, exposed metal frameworks, and a black color theme, which projected a sense of modernity and premium quality.
Key Design Elements:
Hollow Metal Framework: The concept centered around using a hollow metal box frame instead of closed walls. This created an illusion of space and allowed the stall to feel open and inviting, making it easier for visitors to engage with the displayed ceramic products. The metal skeleton was painted black, lending a touch of sophistication while keeping the overall design minimalistic.
Visual Enclosure with Metal Boxes: We designed the stall using metal boxes to create a visual enclosure without blocking the view or making the space feel confined. This provided a bold, modern look that contrasts well with the products on display, making it appealing to the discerning eyes of architects.
Minimalistic Aesthetic: The minimalist design was essential to keep the focus on the brand’s ceramic products. The open structure and sleek design allowed visitors to focus on the materials, textures, and finishes offered by Great Wall Ceramics. The emphasis was placed on creating a balance between aesthetics and functionality, showcasing the brand’s premium nature without overwhelming the viewer.
Design in Details
Exposed Metal Skeleton: The black metal skeleton formed the backbone of the stall, creating a modern industrial feel that resonated with the cutting-edge products being showcased. The black color theme exuded luxury, while the simplicity of the structure kept the design clean and uncluttered.
Lighting: Lighting played a key role in ensuring the stall stood out. We used bright, directional lighting to highlight the products on display and to ensure the open metal structure was well-lit, making it a visual standout among the other stalls at the expo. The strategic placement of lights enhanced the minimalist design and added a layer of drama and sophistication to the space.
Product Display: Ceramic tiles and other materials were displayed within the open framework, allowing visitors to interact with the products directly. The open concept encouraged architects and designers to walk through the stall, experience the textures, and see how the products could fit into various design projects.
Incredible Result
The Great Wall Ceramics stall at IAB Build Expo was a huge success, drawing in numerous architects and design professionals. The minimalist, open-frame design achieved the goal of standing out among a sea of stalls, while also reflecting the premium quality of the client’s products. By using a black metal structure combined with strategic lighting, the stall captured attention and became a topic of conversation at the expo. Visitors were not only impressed by the products but also by the architectural design of the stall itself.
