BBQ Skyline Restaurant is a rooftop dining experience located in the vibrant heart of Dhanmondi 27, Dhaka. Specializing in BBQ cuisine, this large outdoor restaurant offers a unique culinary experience, blending mouthwatering grilled delicacies with a serene, green ambiance. With a seating capacity of 150 guests, this 5500 sqft space is designed to offer a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of one of the busiest areas in Dhaka.
Design in Objective
The primary objective for BBQ Skyline was to create an immersive dining environment where guests can not only savor delicious BBQ but also experience a calming, nature-inspired setting. The focus was on maximizing the greenery throughout the restaurant to create an urban oasis, offering guests a true outdoor experience in the heart of the city. The design needed to harmoniously blend the functionality of a busy restaurant with the tranquility of a green, eco-friendly space.
Design in Concept
Our concept for BBQ Skyline was to create a rooftop restaurant that feels like a lush, open-air garden. By infusing the space with natural elements and greenery, we aimed to transport guests away from the noise and activity of city life, allowing them to relax and enjoy their dining experience in a soothing environment. Every element was thoughtfully designed to emphasize nature and enhance the BBQ dining experience.
Green Outdoor Spaces:
Dining Zones: The seating arrangement was designed to maintain an open, airy feel while allowing for privacy and intimacy. We incorporated planters, green walls, and hanging plants around and between seating areas to create a sense of seclusion and immersion in nature. The layout ensures a comfortable flow for guests and staff, even during peak hours.
BBQ Stations: Central to the design were open BBQ grilling stations, where customers can see their meals being prepared. These stations were placed strategically to be visually engaging without detracting from the natural ambiance. Guests can enjoy the live cooking experience while still feeling connected to the green surroundings.
Design in Details
Our approach emphasized using natural materials and creating a sustainable, eco-friendly design that fits seamlessly into the urban environment. The combination of wooden elements, natural stone, and lush greenery transformed the rooftop into a peaceful retreat, offering a harmonious blend of contemporary design and nature.
Material Palette: We selected a natural palette consisting of wooden furniture, stone walkways, and eco-friendly décor to reinforce the connection with nature. The earthy tones and textures evoke the essence of outdoor BBQ dining and create a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Seating Variety: The restaurant features a mix of formal seating arrangements, perfect for families or groups, alongside cozy, casual seating nooks that encourage relaxation. Every seating zone offers a view of the city skyline or the surrounding greenery, adding to the outdoor experience.
Greenery Integration: The design incorporates a biophilic approach, with plants integrated into every aspect of the restaurant. Vertical gardens, hanging vines, and potted plants were strategically placed throughout the space to soften the modern architecture and create a calming, natural environment.
Lighting Design: To complement the natural theme, we chose a mix of ambient and accent lighting. Warm, soft-glow lights were used to enhance the dining experience in the evenings, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere. The lighting design ensures that the greenery and BBQ stations are beautifully highlighted while still offering a serene, relaxing dining environment.
- Interactive Experience: At BBQ Skyline, the outdoor dining experience is enhanced by the surrounding greenery and the sights and sounds of live BBQ. The open kitchen allows guests to watch their food being grilled to perfection, while the carefully curated seating layout ensures that everyone feels connected to the outdoor environment.
